The Great Divide Campground Review

The Great Divide Campground Review

Winston & Friends visited The Great Divide Campground in New Jersey in early June 2015. We were blessed with a lovely weekend weather wise. Just warm enough to go swimming but not so hot we needed the air-conditioning on in Winston.

Our first impression was how helpful and nice the staff were at The Great Divide Campground. Most importantly they are very pet friendly. Bring all your 4 legged fur friends they are welcome at The Great Divide Campground! They even have a dog park!

Party time Black Light Disco

The facilities at the campground were well cleaned although a little small and cramped. The pool gets a lot of use so the toilets can gather a line but nothing too frustrating. Remember you’re on vacation so chillax and take your time.

Our campsite was a decent size. After finding out we were traveling with three dogs the staff kindly recommended a campsite near the dog park. There was a lovely breeze and the mosquito pests were not unbearable. The

campsite was large enough to set up our badminton net. We had a wonderful campfire at night. Saturday night we enjoyed a “Black light disco” at the barn. The band was fabulous and the night was filled with dancing and good cheer.

The kids biked, played games, fished, hiked, kayaked (available for free as long as you put on a life jacket!), swam, roasted marshmallows and were entertained enough that we never heard the ominous “I’m bored”.

The Great Divide Campground gets a full 5paw Three Times the Cute - 5 paw rating rating from Winston & Friends! We had a great time!

From their website:

“It’s camping your way—just a stone’s throw from the city.

The Great Divide Campground lies in rural Sussex County on Phillips Road, which was named after the area’s first owners. Acquired by the Christie family in the mid-1950s, the property operated as Hazy Vale Dairy Farm until the mid-1960s. In 1963, the family converted part of the farm to a day beach club, later developing campsites to meet the growing tourist demand. As the campground expanded, a manmade lake and other amenities were added—turning Hazy Vale Farm into Green Valley Beach.

In 2012, Green Valley Beach was purchased by Carmine and Lisa Torella—and renamed The Great Divide Campground. Committed to retaining the area’s natural beauty, the Torellas have updated and refurbished the property to provide the region’s best camping and recreation opportunities. Here at The Great Divide, families of all ages gather to enjoy scenic views, accommodating service—and an outdoor experience that’s refreshing and unforgettable.
