The Crazy Qs, Nebraska Sunset

Woke up early and got on the road today. Traveled about 220 miles before stopping at Mormon Island State Park, Nebraska. For $5 we were able to plug in the RV and cook lunch. We took advantage of the clean showers and facilities. It was very pleasant. The humans went for a bike ride along the trails which was very scenic. We doggy types just walked around the lake. It was a very pretty find right off the highway.

Mum made it driving about another 40 miles and she had to hand the wheel over to Dad. Mum laid down with us and napped for an hour or two. We loved that! Mum woke up just in time to take a picture of the Nebraska State sign and find us somewhere cool to stop and sight see.

First sight seeing side trip was to Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area. We wish we had far more time here! The doggies took their first hike through a western trail. The new smells for doggies were awesome! The humans loved the gorgeous scenery but we just enjoyed sniffing around. Pixel the Boston Terrier learned very quickly that cactus are not good for sniffing! Huge stone cliffs, and you could see forever. Truly magnificent.

Along the drive we found a wolf statue on top of a cliff. Very exciting for our little wolf child “Accalia”. She is already in love with Nebraska.

Next stop, Scott’s Bluff National Monument. Another WOW! Scott’s Bluff was stunning! We waited until they closed the main road to vehicles then hiked up the road to the top of the mountain and watched a breathtaking sunset. The boy humans road their bikes up and Mum is still pretending they did not race back down the mountain at break-neck speed. All arrived back to Winston unharmed with an overload of gorgeous memories.

We cooked dinner and then drove another 60 miles and tucked in at a rest stop for the evening. All humans and dogs are exhausted and snoring loudly, well Mum is still typing but about to tuck in too. Grand Teton tommorrow! Can’t wait!

Total for today 600 miles

Winston’s 1st Big Ol Road Trip Day 2

Three Times the Cute - Cutest Dogs Ever - Jabba the JuggleThree Times the Cute - Cutest Dogs Ever - Winston the RV and FriendsDay 2 was a bit of a Rollercoaster ride! It stayed out pretty well. Dogs were fed and “watered”, poop baggies were used. The teen boys remained asleep as we kicked Winston into gear and headed west. We drove about 200 miles to Marquette Beach Park on Lake Michigan which is part of the Great Lakes, America.

We found this park on RoadTrippers.com. at first getting there seemed like maybe we were getting Google lost but after driving past forgotten gas stations and beat up areas we found this gem on the lake. The great lakes are beautiful. A sight to see! Marquette Beach was gorgeous. The humans rode some bike trails then we were told our 4 legged friends were not allowed on the beach. The staff however were very friendly and helped us find a beach on Lake Street not too far down the road that we 4 legged beasties could go swimming too. We had so much fun splashing in the water and fooling around. We got soo sandy and messy but we are so cute our humans forgave us.

We had a minor poop accident in the water! Godzilla the Shih Poo LOVES the water. She will run and play in the waves all day. Sadly she forgot that she needed to poop and stopped and pooped right in the water! This lead to her human running up and scooping soggy poop up with his hand and standing holding it while Mum desperately tried to open a poopie bag! We were proud of our human for keeping his cool while holding a soggy poop. Never a dull moment!

After a lovely stop poor Jabba the Juggle got a little desperate to poop and didn’t know where to go so there was an emergency stop to clean poop.

Traveling on route 80 through Iowa was pretty unpleasant with all the 1 lane road construction not made easier by the heavy rain while driving. We ended up making it to a rest stop on route 80 and parking for the night.

Total 640 miles.

All tucked in for the night

No pets? Oh no!

Winston’s first day was successful. We made it just over 500 miles and speed at the “Blue Heron Service Plaza” on route 80 in Ohio. They have a beautiful bog service area with plenty of amenities that even includes electric hookup for your RV!

It is pouring rain so we are planning on just getting the driving done so we can sight see in the more pleasant weather.

It was a good first day for Winston & friends!

510 miles, $240 in gas day 1. We could have gone further but stopped due to terrible rain and wind.

And we’re off!

First stop Snow Shoe Truck Stop

Winston’s first day has begun! We got off to a slow start. It’s not easy getting 3 kids and 3 dogs packed up and loaded! One cycle with my teenager went as follows “where’s my nook?” “right here” “no that’s my brothers” “where’s my nook?” “right here” “no that’s my brothers” “where’s my nook?” “right here” “no that’s my brothers” and on and on for 20 minutes before I finally turned it on and showed him that is was indeed his missing nook. Of course the dogs were all underfoot making sure we didn’t leave them behind. I’m lucky I left with all bones safe after tripping so often!

Mum and the dogs ended up sleeping the first 100 miles. First stop the “Snow Shoe Truck Stop“. The truck stop was amazing for a truck stop! Very clean! They even had showers and washing machines!

And we’re half way to Cleveland!
